Comment
Comments:
Haviland refers to historical coastal and inland varieties of Guugu Yimidhirr, referred to as 'dhalun-dirr (with the sea)' (Y167) and 'waguurr-ga (of the outside)' Y168 (1979:29). However these are historical references to Guugu Yimidhirr language Y82 and are not language names. The 'coastal dialect' survives in a few archaic forms recorded by missionaries and in hymns (Haviland, pc January 2016). See and use Guugu Yimidhirr Y82.
