Comments: 
Haviland notes variation between 'Yimi-dhirr' and 'Yimu-dhirr', which literally mean 'this-having' i.e. yimu (~ yimu) means 'this'. The language name is translated 'this way of talking, this kind of language' (1979:29). The historical term 'Imudhi' is a variant pronunciation (possibly misheard) of 'yimudhirr' (Haviland, p.c. Location information: 
from the Annan River and Cooktown north to the mouth of the Jeannie River. From there the territory extended west to somewhere around the mouth of the Jack River, and from there south to the area of the Normanby River called Battle camp. Several islands including Lizard Island (Haviland 1979:31). From Endeavour River (Cooktown) north to the southern vicinity of Cape Flattery; inland to vicinity of Battle Camp and to near Welcome; at Cape Bedford (Tindale 1974).
