It is not clear whether this is a Noongar W41 dialect as reported in Oates (1975) and O'Grady et al. (1966), or a Noongar speaking group/clan. Douglas (1968) does not include it in his description of Nju?ar W41. See record for Noongar / Nyungar W41 for a discussion about the relationship between Noongar / Nyungar people names and language/dialect names. At the 1990 Wellington Mills Conference, organised by the Nyoongar Language Project Advisory Panel, it was agreed on that there are (at least) three dialects of Nyoongar W41. Bernard Rooney's 2011 'Nyoongar dictionary' primarily represents the 'north-western' dialect, spoken in the Moora district of the Nyoongar country, identified as '(Yued/Yuat)' (W11) in the subtitle. (Rooney 2011:2-3) The Noongar Boodjar Waangkiny Language Centre assigns the Juat (W11) clan to the 'Djiraly: Northern' dialect, noting the approximate nature of 'how the original 14 recognised Noongar Clans have been drawn into 3 main dialects'.
