Comments:
According to Dixon (1977, 2002), Yidiny Y117, Gunggay Y114, Madjay (Y119) and Wanjurr(u) Y165 are in a dialectal relationship. The term 'Yidiny' is used by some as a language name for these dialects. In Yidiny, the suffix '-ndji / -dyji / -ji ' attached to the language name 'X' means 'people who speak X' or 'X people'; thus Madyanydyi people. Previously Wanyurr and Madjay were listed together (Madyay / Wanyurr Y119); see Wanyurr Y165.
