QLD
Location information:
Between White Sands and Escape River along the Coral Sea coast was the original home of the Yadhaykenu and the Yaraytyana. The Yarattyana apparently occupied the coastal area to the north of Orford Bay. Ray's placement of Yaraytyana on his map around Bamaga (1907) is quite mistaken. Very early in the history of white settlement of the peninsula, the Yaraytyana and Yadhaykenu migrated to the Somerset area as the original Cape people became extinct (Crowley 1983:310-311).
