McConvell (2006 p.c.) and Tsunoda (1981) both found Kartangarurru is similar to Wanyjirra K21. Also referred to as Kartangarurru-Kurintji C20 in land claim proceedings (1978; SF 26.7/3).

Eastward limit: There was no precise information available on the eastward limits of Kartangarurru in 2007.Mirirrinyungu was associated with Kartangarurru. Green Swamp Well 4 was associated with Warlmanpa. Northward limit: Mirirrinyungu was associated with Kartangarurru. Cattle Creek drainage was associated with Mudburra. Hooker Creek drainage was associated with Kartangarurru. Victoria River drainage associated with Gurindji. Sturt and Nongra Lake drainage associated with Wanyjirra. Westward limit: The changeover to Djaru affiliations was in the Browns Range area. Southward limit: There was no precise information available on the southward limits of Kartangarurru in 2007. Supplejack Downs homestead was associated with Kartangarurru. Tanami was associated with Warlpiri (Harvey c2009).
