Comment
Comments:
In explaining the etymology of the term Dalabon N60 (dalû- 'mouth' + bon 'go'), Evans and Merlan (2003:269) mention that Dangbon N60 and Ngalkbon are 'parallel formations based on the root for 'mouth' in Bininj Gun-wok N186 and Jawoyn' N57, used by speakers of each of those languages respectively. Cutfield (2011), discussing Dalabon N60, comments that 'Dialectal variation is reported in geographical and social dimensions (i.e. clan lects). Dangbon N230 and Ngalkbon are sometimes used as labels to distinguish northern and southern Dalabon (respectively), two varieties which display a few differences according to Evans, Merlan and Tukumba (2004:ix).
