Gawambaraay, Gamilaraay / Gamilaroi / Kamilaroi D23, Yuwaalaraay D27, Yuwaalayaay D54, Guyinbaraay D15, Waalaraay D55 and Wirraay-Wirraay D66 are varieties of a language called Darling Tributaries language by Wafer and Lissarrague (2008: 216-221).

Guyinbaraay D15 and Gawambarray are neighbouring dialects of Gamilaraay D23 but separate. Commented made by Wade Natty (2022)

It was probably spoken around Boggabilla (Austin, Williams and Wurm 1980:168).

... on the Barwon River about Gobabilla, Boobera, and Tulloona, New South Wales. The Pikumbil people adjoin the Kawambrai on the north-west, and the Yukumbil on the south-east (Mathews 1902:145).

Tindale (1974) locates Kawambarai (D39) north of Dubbo but this area is assigned to Wayilwan [D20] by Austin (2008). This database employs the location given by Austin (1980) as above.
