Sharpe coined the name Yugambeh - Bundjalung as a cover term for a group of dialects from north-east New South Wales and south-east Queensland (2005) and produced a dictionary (on CDROM) of Yugambeh - Bundjalung in 2013.
Manandjali has been used as both a language and a people name. Many people in this group use the spelling Mununjali.
Holmer compiled a short grammar and vocabulary of Manandjali (E76), as described by collaborators at Beaudesert in south-east Queensland; he classified Manandjali as belonging to the Bandjalang group of languages (1983:411).
Sharpe described this variety as Beaudesert Yugambeh E17 (1995 in Wafer & Lissarrague, 2008:354).
Sharpe notes that Manaldjali (E76) (i.e. another form of the same word) is 'claimed to mean "hard, baked ground" a reflection of the dryness of the area ...' (2005:6).

Beaudesert area, Logan River, west of Albert River (Sharpe 2005). The Manandjali language and tribe, of which Beaudesert or the Beaudesert area (with Josephville) is evidently a centre (the word manadjali is commonly used in reference to Beaudesert itself) are located (sometimes as a section within a larger tribe) either on the Logan river (mention was often made of Manandjali as 'Logan river language', spoken up to the head of the Logan river), or to the west of the Albert river (the latter making the boundary between the Manandjali and Balgabari sections) (Holmer 1983).
